Commissioned folded map, created with Linda France and ADQ Design from a residency at the Newcastle-Gateshead Bridges Festival
Building on a residency at the Newcastle-Gateshead Bridges festival in 2011 with the poet Linda France, we were commissioned with ADQ Design to to re-imagine Newcastle University Campus as a garden, combining writing exercises and poetry with the neuroscience of memory. The front of the map is edged with found verses created from memories set in gardens written by visitors and tied to our two birch saplings during the Bridges Festival. There is also a space for the map-holder to write their own garden memory. The back of the map contains writing exercises inspired by garden-oriented neuroscience factoids.
