Memory-exchange intervention created for WARMTH: a wood-fired mobile sauna and performance space designed by Bethany Wells
Inspired by the concept of the Finnish saunatonttu, The Sauna Experience plays with the idea of offerings made to the guardian spirit of the sauna in the form of personal memories set in or inspired by the experience of taking a sauna. Memories offered are handwritten on the logs that are used to fuel WARMTH.
As part of an R&D session in April 2016, the memories pictured below were gathered through a call-out on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp) as well as from other artists participating in the R&D session, and an invited audience.
